I try to review podcasts that pertain to spirit orbs, however, I must admit to initially thinking I may have to file this review under the “…and more” segment of my “Spirit Orbs and More” subheading of this webpage.  In doing so, I would get to review a podcast that I am really enjoying.  I am happy to say that I found one episode (there may be more) that makes mention of spirit orbs.

Overview -Host

Martin Willis is the creator and host of Podcast UFO, which debuted in 2011. The podcast covers all aspects pertaining to UFO phenomenon and then some.  Mr. Willis has had experience with at least two other podcasts prior to this one.  I believe he did a podcast about comedy, which no longer is available, and the other cast deals with antiques and fine art, called The Antique Auction Forum Podcast & Blog

In 2006, Martin had a UFO encounter, while…let us just get this out of the way…sitting in a friend’s hot tub at dusk in Carmel Valley California.  He swears he was free of substances.  During an interview on a podcast called API Case Files, which I found here. Martin recalls, that while sitting in the hot tub he noticed, above him, a silent disk shaped object that had a blueish glow. He said the encounter “…really stunned me…was totally baffled at what my eyes were seeing”.   He contacted police, but they did not seem to take his call seriously, and Martin hung up the phone after being on hold for 15 minutes. Thankfully, there are now many non-governmental agencies to call to report a UFO, such as Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) based in United States with many chapters outside of that country.

Overview – Show

Martin Willis describes the podcast as a “…place where you can listen to audio podcasts about UFOs, close encounters and people associated with the UFO phenomenon. Witnesses involved in such things as sightings, views on cover-ups and more. Listeners are welcome to interact with guests, visit the website to find out how. Shows are recorded live on YouTube stream every Tuesday evening, 6:00 to 8:00PM”

His podcast is simulcast on KGRA radio, YouTube and Facebook.  Not only does he do live interviews once a week, done through, for the most part, for now, videoconferencing, which at times may contribute to the staccato type of dialogue, all the while navigating between the live super chat via YouTube and the phone-ins from the listeners, in addition to jumping between radio and YouTube.  I imagine not a small feat.

Podcast’s Webpage

Associated with his podcast is his webpage or visa-versa.  This will be the first time that I make mention of the associated webpage to a podcast and I may plan to continue this aspect when possible with other reviews.

The webpage is brilliant! Nice layout, very informative and interactive.  The homepage consist of information about upcoming and recent shows.  He provides guests’ bio and has a weekly installment of audio/transcript blog entries from Charles Lear.    He makes available the show’s notes and podcast archive.  At the time of this review, he has completed 471 episodes!

Episode:     #302:  May 16, 2018 – 01:30:35 mark

Guest:         Loren W. Christensen discusses his book, Cop’s True Stories of the Paranormal & UFOs.

Loren Christensen is an author who has penned over 50 books, he started his career with the army in 1967 additionally he did 2 year state side.  He then was a patrol officer in Saigon.  He has had a 25-year career in policing until 1997.  After retirement, he started writing.  He tells of some fascinating paranormal tales – worth the listen.

Review – Orb segment

I would not say that the section on orbs contained any fascinating theoretical information but I imagine that many found his story about orbs to be entertaining.  The episode’s title and description gives no evidence of any orb discussion.

To be fair, the information about orbs seemed to manifest semi-organically.  I do not believe that podcast UFO focuses too much on ghost/spirit paranormal activity, of course I could be wrong, not having listened to all of the episodes. As a side note, would it really be that much of a stretch to talk about paranormal activity when talking about UFO encounters? I find myself musing if that could be the reason behind by spirit orb sightings. To continue….his guest made mention of a book on the subject of ghosts, so thus began a conversation that eventually led to the mention of orbs.

Loren and his wife began searching for ghosts after Loren’s book agent wanted him to write another book, this time on the topic of ghost hunters.  Loren did not consider himself a ghost hunter, however; he did want to have another book under his belt! So he and his wife purchased and watched ghost hunting shows and movies and purchased some basic ghost hunting equipment such as digital recorder, EMF detector, and a digital camera. The newbie hunters decided check out a graveyard, nothing much occurred there and then explored a mausoleum or two and it was at one of those locations that they believe they captured a digital image of an orb.

While investigating for a second time in a particular mausoleum for the duration of approximately 90 minutes Loren’s wife became unnaturally exhausted and he experienced a severe mood swing.  They left, but their condition lingered into the night for a lengthy duration afterwards.

After that experience they decided on yet another, smaller mausoleum and it was there that his wife was able to capture, via a photograph, a big orb in front of Loren’s chest.  Apparently, he was sitting in the mausoleum waiting for his wife to complete her investigation when he felt a cold spot, a drop of about 10 degrees, when his wife came around the corner into the area where he was seated, he mouthed her the words “take a picture”.

As some of you may know if you have looked at my orb videos, I have seen and continue to see many orbs but I have never had any noticeable temperature change as Martin did.

After sharing that experience with host Mr. Willis, Loren explained how some ghost investigators do not believe in orbs and both Loren and Martin discussed the type of camera used during the investigations and if it was possible that orb images could be dust.

To my surprise Martin brought forward information on how orbs may have some sort of intelligence, demonstrated by the ways in which orbs are able to navigate. Not sure where Martin obtained this information but I think he is more in the know about orbs than I suspected.

Conclusion:

Martin is an equal opportunities host.  Listens to perspectives from all sides and allows for those, whom he may not always agree with, a voice. I enjoyed the podcast because in part, I appreciated the cerebral aspect to the topic. The host, the high caliber of guests, the show’s overall tone, and the type of content bring a much needed credibility to this field. Podcasts such as this one will gain new audience and help shift attitudes regarding the UFO phenomenon and that, I think, is a good thing.
